This interview is about Agota (23), a young lady who is majoring in motherhood of 4 – Ferdinando, Clemence, Brit and Crete (See image 2). Furthermore, she’s an entrepreneur of newly launched business SHOO Shampoo which sells shampoos without any artificial ingredients or other nonsense for both pets and their owners. While executing the project she’s also travelling around the globe and working on initiative Paw It Forward.
Despite being an occupied mammy she found several minutes to give us an interview while practising Iyengar yoga, Qi Gong and Capoeira in Bali, and having business meetings in Hong Kong and London.
If we could travel in time, we would witness how Laika, a mixedbreed dog, became the first living being in orbit, launched on Sputnik 2 mission in November, 1957. Who let the dog out?
I think Russians were too scared so they found the bravest dog on the planet Earth.
Your newly launched start-up SHOO Shampoo is world’s first cross-breed company with products suitable for all mammals. What let the SHOO brand out?
Well, I had a really bad time around a year ago – I felt emotionally trapped, without self confidence or self-esteem. I was diagnosed with depression, so doctor suggested to take pills (that’s why I don’t believe in a conventional medicine anymore). After few panic attacks, I’ve decided that I need to do something with my body and soul. I started to read many non-fiction books and in one of them I found this inspiring thought – “If you want to make your day happier, do something good for other person”, but instead of helping humans I started to help stray dogs.
So, I began to volunteer in many dog shelters. After one really hard and smelly day, I came back home and took a shower, but instead of using everyday shampoo I tried a dog shampoo because I thought that it would kill dog smell better. I looked at the ingredients and haven’t understood anything, thus I googled… What I found was shocking! Except water, other ingredients were toxic for dogs and humans, they may cause cancer, mental illness, skin problems, etc. So I got in touch with my school teacher, she suggested one of her friend, that friend suggested other. And that’s how I met Svajune – a SHOO chemistry master. Since then we are brainstorming many new products and destroying hygiene myths.
For example, many people started to argue with us about SHOO hygiene products which are cross-breed (suitable for pets and humans); they argue that pets and humans have a different Ph level – pets skin are more sensitive or opposite. But we usually cope with that by asking the right questions – “Does your dog eat carrots? So, what’s the difference between your carrot and the carrot you give to your pooch? NON. We use natural products derived from vegetables, coconuts and mixing them with essential oils. Their irritation score is the same as water (6 Ph level) which is suitable for both pets and humans, because it’s neutral. The need to control Ph level in cosmetic products arise when product contains chemical ingredients such as acid or alkane, then most of manufactures adds different chemicals to make their products more neutral.
You’re travelling around the globe with a PAW IT FORWARD initiative. What it’s about?
Probably when I got so much unconditional love from stray dogs, I was filled with the purpose to help them. That’s why we created our initiative PAW IT FORWARD.
SHOO family consists of three shelter dogs: Crete, Brit and Clemence. They are amazing companions! Unfortunately, most of the people avoid to adopt shelter dogs because of stupid myths:
MYTH 1 : They’re in the shelter because something is wrong with them.
BAM! A big reason that dogs wind up in shelters is because they were given up by their owners for reasons that have nothing to do with the dog’s behaviour.
MYTH 2: They may have a disease.
BOOM! Most shelters nowadays provides you with a voucher for a subsidized or no-cost first vet visit, and the more devastating diseases have vaccines that are routinely provided by the shelter. Shelters also make sure that dogs are free of fleas and worms, and they provide spaying and neutering as part of the adoption process.
MYTH 3: They aren’t pure-bred
PUFFF! And…? Shelter dogs are generally free of genetic or behavioural problems that are typical of some pure breeds. Also, mix breeds are much more interesting looking.
Thus due to those stupid myths we decided to burn them by travelling around the globe and visiting local dog shelters, trying to help them to reach some investments, gift our products and simple shower shelter dogs. What is more super WOOF, we’ve met many animal lovers who shared they stories on which we are working to publish. That’s our way to educate people – funny, real and positive.
Would you share few stories with us?
First one is about 85 y.o. British lady who together with her husband founded a monkey shelter in India. They came to India 30 y.o. and were so shocked about the abandoned monkeys, who were kept in tiny cages somewhere in the dark corners of the house. So they bought an old vila in the jungles of Goa and adapted it to monkeys. Now, they have their own rooms, swimming pool and fresh food every few hours.
Second one is about Lithuanian super Pug Mammy. This lady rocks! When I first met Indre I couldn’t believe it’s even possible. She rents an old, traditional western village house and lives together with 34 pugs! I remember the moment when she opened the door and tone of cuties ran to us.
Third story is about an Australian actress who left her carrier and founded a dog shelter in Bali. I visited Barca 4 Bali Dogs at my last visit there. Together with shelter team we went on adoption mission where 4 stray puppies found their new families.
We read that you’ve studied law, thus would you share your thoughts for describing the main laws about how the life works according to you?
Wow… We would need to write a new article regarding this question. But in few words there are 3 elements that we need to pay attention to – body, mind and soul. I eat super healthy food, exercise, do yoga, Qi Gong and many other activities. When we live in this crazy world, it’ s important to separate yourself from environment, so meditation and silence is the key. And for sure we need to use our full potential, learn something every damn day!
Why you are as you are or what inspires you the most?
If I’m I because you are you, and you are you because I’m I, Then I’m not I and you are not you. We all are not separate. We define each other. We know who we are in terms of other people. I Love Alan Watts!
I’m 100% inspired by other people. I adore many entrepreneurs not because of their business success, but their passion to live to the fullest. I get up everyday to be even a bit wiser before I go to sleep. I listen to hundreds podcasts from Tim Ferry, Life if is Brian Tracy, RSD Motivation, Gary V, Patrick Bet David, Derek Siver.
Five senses refers to the five traditionally recognized methods of perception, or sense: taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing. What each kind of sense would you recommend experience to a future Martian visiting Earth for the very first time ?
Taste. I would suggest Buratta! I was living in Italy for a year and I’m addict to this cheese. It’s made from mozzarella and cream… UHHh… It’s hard even to write about it.
Sight. I would show poor Indian life: their daily routine and challenges they’re facing with. Maybe a Martian would suggest what to do?!
Touch. Easy! We need to find a love for a Martian and let him/her to kiss his/her lips. That’s all she/he needs.
Smell. Chocolate! Roasted cacao beans, warm dark chocolate…
Hearing. Guiseppe’s Verdi La Traviata, for sure.
Unveil your future plans – personal and business development goals.
I will visit 12 countries each year (maybe more).
After few years SHOO is one of 3 top brands in the world.
I have my own school for children with Autism syndrome where we are helping them by using cani therapy.
I have way more energy, self confidence, self esteem and passion to learn more and more. I am super happy with my family, travelling all together and learning new secrets of life.
Thank you, Agota!
P.S. Please leave us your selfie to confirm that you’re not a robot.
