This 78 square meter cabin is called four-cornered villa or house with four wings, and it is built on a horse shoe shaped island and faces north and east. Finnish architect from Helsinki Ville Hara and Anu Puustinen created an off-grid minimalist winter cabin which is heated by wood from own forest only. Sustainable country cottage has no electricity, but draws power from solar cells. In addition, the cabin is with no running water, but there is a lake to solve this problem out. “We wanted to keep it simple to contrast with hectic city life and all the machinery,” Architects say. “It is an ascetic experience.”
The exterior is treated black to blend in with the surrounding forest and the interior is is very light. Vegetables are grown on own land and the lake surrounding the island is famous as a good fishing spot.
